Intro to 3D printing
The Plan
Different types of 3D Printing
Stereolithography
A shape is hardened in a vat of resin by drawing out a profile using an ultraviolet laser layer by layer.
SLS - Selective Laser Sintering
The printer creates a bed of powder, a laser selectively melts together powdered material, then spreads more powder on top, repeating the process to build the part layer by layer.
Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM) / Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF)
A length of material is melted and pushed through a nozzle, the nozzle is moved around to draw out a layer. The Nozzle is moved up one increment and the process is repeated.
Where can we find stuff?
Modern 3D printing has grown from a culture of sharing and remixing ideas. There are a growing number of online libraries with a huge volume of downloadable items and projects.
Mini Apps
These apps have a very limited scope of what they can do, that makes them super fast and powerful for making the right thing.
